@2024-03-07: THE 1,150 DAYS OF DANIEL 8:13-14

 

Brenton LXX: 

1Ma 1:54 Now the fifteenth day of the month Casleu [Kislev], in the hundred forty and fifth year, they set up the abomination of desolation upon the altar, and builded idol altars throughout the cities of Juda on every side...

1Ma 1:59 Now the five and twentieth day of the month they did sacrifice upon the idol altar [earlier called the abomination of desolation, set up ten days earlier], which was upon the altar of God. 

1Ma 4:52 Now on the five and twentieth day of the ninth month, which is called the month Casleu [Kislev], in the hundred forty and eighth year, they rose up betimes in the morning,

1Ma 4:53 And offered sacrifice according to the law upon the new altar of burnt offerings, which they had made.

1Ma 4:54 Look, at what time and what day the heathen had profaned it, even in that was it dedicated with songs, and citherns, and harps, and cymbals [FYI: Greek (ἐν ᾠδαῖς καὶ κιθάραις καὶ κινύραις καὶ κυμβάλοις): two different species of lyre, the second being the famous kinnor]. 

Without attempting direct calculation of the calendar for that era, let us see what we can approximate in parallel modern years. 

3 years from Kislev 25 to Kislev 25 

Kislev 25 2025 = Dec 15

Kislev 25 2028 = Dec 13 

From and including: Monday, December 15, 2025

To and including: Wednesday, December 13, 2028 

Result: 1,095 days 

Even if one adds 30 days, we still get only 1,120 days! That is a full calendar month of 30 days short! Daniel must speak of a future sanctuary: 

(Dan 8:13 ESV) Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, “For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?”

(Dan 8:14 ESV) And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings [1,150 days]. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”
